Wassail: An English Christmas

Friday, December 9th, 2005 at 8:00pm
John Street Church
44 John Street, New York City

The Manhattan Choral Ensemble will present an evening of English choral music for Christmas, featuring traditional English Christmas carols and works by Byrd, Tallis, and Warlock, as well as Britten’s Hymn to the Virgin. Encompassing music from the medieval period to the present, the performance will evoke the rich compositional history of England as well as that expression of the spirit of Christmas uniquely English.

Celebrate this joyful season with a concert of music at times delicate, at times exuberant, but always exquisite. The setting is one of New York’s most beautiful churches with a long history of connection to the English culture, the perfect place to enjoy a choral experience like no other this December.
